What are HP server rails used for?

A server rack rail is used to mount servers in a 2-post or 4-post rack. Rail kits are also used to mount servers and other necessary IT equipment within a 19” server rack. There are many types of sizes and models of server rails making it easy to find the perfect fit for your use case. Our HP server rails provide a sturdy and easy-to-install rail solution for HP compatible server racks. OEM rail kits are expensive, so these rails are the perfect alternative if you need something cost-effective. By using our server rails, you will be confident knowing that it will work and last in any situation that you may need them for.

Which HP server rail is best for you?

Before selecting your server rails, you need to identify your HP server model. You can find the product number of any of your servers by locating it on the server itself or on the warranty card. HPE PartSurfer is another way to find fast and easy access to service parts information as well. Once you know which model you have, you can locate the HP category on the left, which has a HP Server Compatibility filter for multiple server models. You will be able to search for the model number and determine if any of our products will work with your device. Depending on your server type, we offer a wide variety of slide rails and fixed rails.

What’s the difference between fixed rails and sliding rails?

Fixed rails are a long L-shaped bracket that help to support the edge of your equipment. These rails may include a cabling crossbar to dress any cables that are present in your server rack. For server racks with fixed rail kits, this means that the rails will firmly fix the server to the rack in a set position. To perform maintenance, fixed rails do require you to fully remove the server and equipment from the server rack. Sliding or telescoping rails feature a sliding mechanism, which provides the functionality of a drawer. By using slide rails, the server can be pulled out of the rack and serviced without disconnecting all of the cables. For those who need to immediately service their equipment, sliding rails are more beneficial compared to fixed rails.

What is rack mounting depth?

Rack mount depth is commonly confused with the overall rack depth including the door. However, the mounting depth is actually the dimension from the front mounting post to the back mounting post. The mounting depth refers to the area in which your rack allows you to install rails or shelves. Since most racks have adjustable mounting posts, the depth can only be accurately determined by measuring it. This will ensure that your equipment, such as rails or shelves, will fit inside the rack.

What are the benefits of a wall-mounted PC?

Wall mounts allow for the most efficient use of space when mounting desktop PCs. You can mount your desktop to the wall to eliminate clutter, save space, improve airflow, and more. Made from solid steel construction, our wall mounts ensure that they can securely hold your PCs, monitors, or both.

Which HP wall mount is best for you?
